Out of The Storm
After the August 21, 2011 tornado that spread through the town of Goderich it was clear that large fundraising efforts would be extremely important to rebuilding the town. After canceling many events, due to the devastation of the downtown, the Taste of Huron and West Coast Bluesfest committees decided to find as many partners as possible to put on a large concert, cultural and foodie event to raise important funds.
By August 30 the committee had formed with community organizations and businesses including:
• Goderich BIA
• Huron Tourism Association
• Goderich Kinsmen
• Taste of Huron
• West Coast Bluesfest
• Celtic Festival
• Meades Bros Productions
• Bayfield Concert Series
• Fauxpop
• 104.9 The Beach
• MyFM Radio
• 94.5 The Bull, 101.7 the One and CKNX AM 920
Many offers from bands, restaurants producers and volunteers had already been received. The group decided to move forward as the “Out of the Storm” planning committee. Chair of fundraising for the Goderich and Area Disaster Relief Fund, Matt Hoy, stepped forward as chair of the event committee.

I think this is a marvelous idea – a great way to help bring in much needed funds while at the same time providing an upbeat social event for the folk in Goderich. Am a senior Nova Scotian but have fond memories of taking my first born chld for his daily outings around “the Square” there in Goderich; as well, I have kin still living there whom my husband and I are thinking of paying a “surprise visit” to take them out to the conceert! What a wonderful event this will be!
There are fond memories of yrs of good times held thru-out the yrs.by up-line and down-line Chamney Family members. This Family’s roots date back to 1845 in the area many Family members still live in the area. Others are spread around the World but all have fond memories of Goderich and the surrounding area. I know all of our members wish Goderich a speedy recover.
Hi Wayne,
The music committee is currently working on the headlining bands. I will pass your message on to the music committee.
Thanks,
